Herbal Infusion for Fevers + Flu

This blend is excellent for both adults and children. Blend it ahead of time to have ready. In cases of fever, make a bigger batch and drink often.

Ingredients

  • Yarrow flowers
  • Elder flowers
  • Spearmint or Peppermint

Instructions

  1. To make a small pot (or about 2 cups):
  2. Mix equal parts of the dried herbs to equal approximately 2 tablespoons of herbs.
  3. Pour 2 cups of near boiling water over the herbs in a cup (or canning jar with lid)
  4. Steep 10 minutes. Strain.
  5. For a larger ‘batch’ (about 1 quart):
  6. Add 4-5 tablespoons ( a big handful!) to a large glass jar (or Bodum press or teapot)
  7. Pour about 1 quart of water (liter to Canadians!)
  8. Steep for about 10-12 minutes. Strain.
  9. Add some honey or maple syrup to taste.

Recipe Notes

This blend doesn’t taste great but it can support a fever, induce sweating, can ease headache and joint pain
Many herbalist truly believe that this blend helps to fight off infection as well

Drink ¼ cup every hour (or a little more if possible), while awake.
