EASY Garlic Syrup

Make this easy syrup and have on hand before you need it! Make a new habit and have a sip every day. Can be very helpful in cases of sore or raspy throats, congestion, coughs and when excess phlegm needs to exit body! This syrup can be a good addition to your fall + winter 'herbal medicine chest' -cl

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pure water
  • 1 ½ cups fresh garlic chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1 cup raw honey local if possible
  • Apple cider Vinegar optional
  • Lemon organic, quartered (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add the garlic and water to a non-reactive pot (stainless steel or glass)
  2. Add the seeds.
  3. Simmer gently until the garlic is soft.

  4. Transfer to a glass jar with a lid and allow to 'steep' for 8-12 hours.
  5. Put the mixture back into the pot and
  6. Add the 1 cup of honey or a bit more to make a syrup consistency.
  7. Add a little ACV if using.
  8. Bring the heat up to just beginning to bubble.

  9. Immediately remove from the heat and add lemons if using.

  10. Allow to cool. Add the lid and label with "garlic syrup" and add the date

Recipe Notes

Store in the fridge.
I find that 'canning jars' are invaluable and use one for this recipe as well..
Take a teaspoon every morning or more often if in 'acute stage' of cold/flu/congestion.
I like this combination of herbs but you can substitute with your personal favourites.
