Bring the water to a boil.

Place the herbs in a teapot, heatproof jar, or French press.

Pour the boiling water over the herbs and cover.

Allow to steep for 15–30 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.

Strain out the herbs.

If using a sweetener, stir it into the warm tea until dissolved.

Add any desired extras such as citrus slices, berries, fresh herbs, or edible flowers.

Allow the tea to cool, then refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.

Serve over ice and garnish as desired.
